Dear Neighbor,

As you may know, I serve on the House Judiciary Committee, and last week, we held an oversight hearing with the Attorney General of the United States, Pam Bondi. Suffice to say, like many Americans I was outraged at Attorney General Bondi’s outbursts and debasement of the hearing and it only reaffirmed my conclusion that what is happening at the Department of Justice under her leadership is a disgrace.

As she conceded during my questioning, the Attorney General and the Department literally hired an individual who was charged with multiple Federal crimes for his conduct on January 6th at our nation’s Capitol — including yelling “kill em” at police officers — only to later be pardoned by President Trump.

Meanwhile, as President Trump, his family, and members of his inner circle make billions from crypto ventures and other transactions, Attorney General Bondi has gutted the Public Integrity Section of DOJ and eliminated entirely the National Cryptocurrency Enforcement Team. The unwillingness of Attorney General Bondi to answer basic, good-faith questions about the agency she leads is an affront to her role as the nation’s chief law enforcement officer. She has repeatedly put her loyalty to the President above her constitutional responsibilities, and dismantled key programs meant to ensure the safety of the American people and the rule of law. It is a shameful dereliction of duty. We can’t turn a blind eye to the dangerous upheaval happening within the Justice Department under this administration.
