Dear Neighbor,

As I cast my final vote for the 119th Congress a week and a half ago, I reflected on all that has transpired over the past year. Suffice to say, we started — and ended — the year fighting for the people of Colorado, and I’m proud and inspired by what my team and I have accomplished, despite the unprecedented chaos and dysfunction created by Congressional Republicans and President Trump.

I’ve been deeply grateful to be back home, and though it is the holiday season, our team has remained hard at work, serving the people of Colorado’s 2nd District. A few days ago, I had the opportunity to host office hours with constituents in Fort Collins, and to visit with local leaders in the Town of Timnath — which was the 50th city in our district I’ve visited over the past 12 months!

As you know, our district is HUGE — encompassing 12 counties and countless communities, from Western Colorado to the Wyoming border to the Front Range. It is an incredible district that I’m deeply honored to represent, which is why I’ve worked hard to be present — always — hosting events with constituents in 50 cities, and holding 17 town halls just this year alone (more than our entire congressional delegation combined!) I look forward to being back on the road in 2026, and visiting with each of you as we work to address the critical challenges of our time.

I hope that you and your families have enjoyed a wonderful holiday season, and wish each of you all the best as we ring in the New Year. It has been a very difficult year for our country, and I’m reminded of one of my favorite quotes from the late Desmond Tutu:

“Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness.”

It is imperative that we remain hopeful — and despite everything, I remain confident that the future of our state and our country will be a bright one.

There is much work to be done in the New Year, and the stakes are high — but please know that I’ll be fighting alongside you every step of the way. And as we enter the New Year, I promise to remain committed to serving you each and everyday.

LEADING ON GUN VIOLENCE PREVENTION

As you may know, earlier this year I was able to successfully defeat Republican efforts to exempt gun silencers from regulation, but unfortunately, the fight is far from over. A massive tax giveaway for gun transfers and silencers is still going to take effect in the coming weeks, so before leaving Washington D.C. I introduced one last bill of the session to stop it — and to use the $1.7 billion in savings for Medicare instead!

2025 CONGRESSIONAL SERVICE AWARDS CEREMONY

It was a privilege to host the annual Second Congressional District Service Awards Ceremony earlier this month, and to honor and recognize our community leaders, educators, students, volunteers, first responders, and many others across the Western Slope and the Front Range who keep Colorado moving forward!

The spirit of our communities is built from the middle out, thanks in no small part to the hard-working, good-natured individuals who dedicate much of their lives to protecting and serving our state. I consider myself incredibly lucky to represent them in Congress and even more so to be able to present them with the recognition they so greatly deserve.

WHAT ELSE HAVE WE BEEN WORKING ON?

🪲Last week, I met with State Forester Matt McCombs for a briefing on the pine beetle outbreak impacting Colorado’s forests. I appreciate his leadership and Governor Polis's decision to launch a new task force to address the crisis on the Front Range. As Ranking Member of the Federal Lands Subcommittee, I look forward to building on my predecessor’s work with the Ponderosa Mountain Pine Beetle Task Force to protect our state’s treasured landscapes.
