As we continue to push for accountability and an end to the lawless actions the Trump administration has taken, I wanted to share two important updates.
First, a few days ago I led an effort with several of my colleagues to demand an independent investigation into the alleged use of “death cards” by ICE agents in Eagle County. This is an outrageous and aggressive intimidation tactic meant to stoke fear among our neighbors. It is immoral and wrong, and we will not allow it to continue unchecked. Read my letter to the Office of Inspector General HERE.
And second, last Monday a Federal court granted a temporary restraining order against ICE’s attempt to obstruct congressional oversight at detention facilities in my lawsuit, Neguse et al. v. ICE et al.! I’ve served as the lead plaintiff in the case for the past six months, and I am grateful the court issued this critical ruling, which is a victory for the American people. I’ll keep fighting to ensure the rule of law prevails.
To that end, upon arriving back in Colorado last week, I was determined to conduct real-time oversight at the Aurora GEO ICE detention center, which I did a mere 72 hours after the court’s ruling. And as I travel back to Washington D.C. today, I’ll continue to push for accountability, including the impeachment of DHS Secretary Kristi Noem — you can watch my recent remarks on the same below.
