Dear Neighbor, 

As some of you may have seen, last week I travelled a few hundred miles to Garfield County. I did so to conduct an unannounced visit to a largely unmarked, commercial office building, located in a shopping center in the City of Glenwood Springs.

The reason I was there was simple — and perhaps best described by a recent news report below:

After reading the report above, and having successfully sued ICE previously to ensure Members of Congress can conduct oversight at these facilities, I decided to travel to the facility personally. We attempted to make contact for more than 30 minutes, but no agency personnel presented themselves or would respond even via phone — and I was therefore not given the opportunity to speak with any ICE or DHS representatives. Suffice to say, the visit raised far more questions than answers, and I intend to get to the bottom of it.

Also this week, I teamed up with Republican Congressman Jeff Hurd and Senators Bennet and Hickenlooper to form a bipartisan coalition of 80 lawmakers in submitting a public comment opposing the dismantling of NCAR.
