Dear Neighbor, Over the last two weeks, folks from across Boulder—and throughout the state of Colorado—showed up for each other during unprecedented times. It is my honor to represent each and every one of you in Congress, and please know my top priority in representing this district remains listening to you, supporting the people of our community, and bringing your thoughts, concerns and ideas to Washington so we can achieve progress for everyone in our great state. And that includes standing in firm opposition to a current proposal circulating through the United States Senate, which would green light the sale of between 2 and 3 million acres of land under the jurisdiction of the Bureau of Land Management and the Forest Service. This includes land that is precious to us here in Colorado, as well as treasured shared spaces in states across the West—Alaska, Arizona, California, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.  While we were able to successfully remove this sort of sale from the budget reconciliation bill in the House, and I’m proud of our efforts regarding the same, we must continue to utilize every tool available to protect these public lands and defeat this new reckless proposal. Dear Neighbor,

Over the last two weeks, folks from across Boulder—and throughout the state of Colorado—showed up for each other during unprecedented times.

ON THE ROAD...ESTES PARK, ALLENSPARK, GOLD HILL

After last month’s whirlwind stretch in Washington, D.C., I was relieved to get to spend some time back in the 2nd District, visiting with folks from across the Front Range. We kicked off the week at the 45th annual Bolder Boulder, thanking local veterans on Memorial Day for their service to our nation and commemorating those who bravely made the ultimate sacrifice

The following week, we started a jam-packed day of community meetings and town halls — including first joining Senator John Hickenlooper for a press conference in Estes Park to discuss our efforts to stop the sale of our public lands. Here in Colorado, access to the outdoors is integral to our way of life, and we’ll keep pushing back on efforts to undermine the preservation of these treasured places.

Check out our recap video with Senator Hickenlooper HERE!

Following that, we were honored to join members of the Estes Park Chamber of Commerce for a small business tour through the town’s iconic main street. As President Trump continues to double down on his reckless (and unconstitutional) tariff policies, it is imperative we provide our neighbors with the support they need, which is why I’ve led the effort as Chair of the Litigation Task Force to challenge the policies in court.

Our mountain journey continued with town halls in both Allenspark and Gold Hill — I’m grateful to so many folks from across the community who showed up to speak out about the issues that matter most to them! I’m always energized by our community conversations — we’ve held 12 town halls so far in just the past five months, and we’re just getting started! And while all of the town halls are memorable, our final one in Gold Hill will be one I’ll always remember — my six-year-old daughter Natalie, who tagged along that day, lost her tooth during the event! 🦷

MY COMMITMENT TO CONSTRUCTIVE POLICY MAKING

That following weekend, I was honored to receive the 2025 Keystone Leadership Award for championing bipartisan solutions and our work serving rural communities — from watershed protection to wildfire mitigation. Now more than ever, it’s critical to foster collaboration and dialogue with those we may not always agree with. We’ll remain focused on serving the people of Northern and Western Colorado — always.

WHAT ELSE HAVE WE BEEN WORKING ON?

  • In addition to joining Senator Hickenlooper for the press conference in Estes Park, we introduced two new bills—the Protect Our Parks Act and the Save Our Forests Act—which direct administration officials to rehire individuals wrongfully terminated under the Trump-era DOGE initiative. • I’m also proud to announce the introduction of two bipartisan bills aimed at ensuring that those recovering from wildfires, floods, and other disasters have the resources and support they need.
