Dear Neighbor,    As we continue our summer stretch of legislative action, I am proud to report that over the past two weeks my office has been hard at work introducing bills of importance, convening new bipartisan caucuses, and taking action on issues that matter most to the hardworking folks of Colorado’s 2nd Congressional District.    First off, I am thrilled to announce the introduction of several critical bills and legislative packages meant to improve the lives of Coloradans. We introduced a series of bills to increase support for our veterans, including; the Department of Veterans Affairs Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Processing Claims Improvement Act and the HUBS for Veterans Act. Both bills ensure veterans, service members, and their families have proper access to healthcare, housing, and job training. We also introduced a package of bills focused on expanding critical access to affordable housing. The Save Affordable Housing Act and the Housing Fairness for Mountain Communities Act will help ensure working families have access to affordable, reliable, and safe housing throughout Colorado.   Also in the past two weeks, I hosted the first official meetings of the Bipartisan Fentanyl Prevention Caucus and Bipartisan Wildfire Caucus. Together, and with the help of my colleagues from both sides of the aisle, we are working to combat the nationwide spike in fentanyl-related overdoses and drug poisonings as well as the recent rise in wildfires.  Next week, we are back in Washington and back at work For The People, continuing to put aside political games and take action on behalf of everyday hardworking families in Colorado and across the country.

Dear Neighbor,

As we continue our summer stretch of legislative action, I am proud to report that over the past two weeks my office has been hard at work introducing bills of importance, convening new bipartisan caucuses, and taking action on issues that matter most to the hardworking folks of Colorado’s 2nd Congressional District.

NATIONAL GUN VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH

June is National Gun Violence Awareness Month, a time to recommit ourselves to standing together against the scourge of gun violence, and a time to put the safety of our communities first. Despite the overwhelming support of the American people, some Members of Congress have failed to show the courage needed to face the gun lobby and save lives. Watch my remarks on our work to end gun violence HERE.

WHAT ELSE HAVE WE BEEN WORKING ON?

  • Senator Hickenlooper and I introduced our bill to protect threatened and endangered fish in the Upper Colorado and San Juan River Basins. Last Congress, we were able to successfully fund and implement the Upper Colorado and San Juan River Recovery Programs through 2024, and this bill will build on recent wins to further safeguard Colorado wildlife for years to come.

  • We announced over $3 million in federal funding for several groundbreaking research projects at CU Boulder and Colorado State University. Colorado has long been a hub for innovation and our higher-education institutions are proof of that.

  • We announced $390,000 in federal funding is headed to communities impacted by the Marshall Fire. Read more about this announcement HERE.

  • Need help with a federal agency? My office can help provide support. From social security, passports, or VA care, Team Neguse is here to provide assistance.Check out some recent constituent success stories HERE!

Should you need any assistance from our office, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Please stay safe, stay healthy, and stay hopeful!

Sincerely,
