Dear Neighbor,
As we continue our summer stretch of legislative action, I am proud to report that over the past two weeks my office has been hard at work introducing bills of importance, convening new bipartisan caucuses, and taking action on issues that matter most to the hardworking folks of Colorado’s 2nd Congressional District.
First off, I am thrilled to announce the introduction of several critical bills and legislative packages meant to improve the lives of Coloradans. We introduced a series of bills to increase support for our veterans, including; the Department of Veterans Affairs Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Processing Claims Improvement Act and the HUBS for Veterans Act. Both bills ensure veterans, service members, and their families have proper access to healthcare, housing, and job training. We also introduced a package of bills focused on expanding critical access to affordable housing. The Save Affordable Housing Act and the Housing Fairness for Mountain Communities Act will help ensure working families have access to affordable, reliable, and safe housing throughout Colorado.
Also in the past two weeks, I hosted the first official meetings of the Bipartisan Fentanyl Prevention Caucus and Bipartisan Wildfire Caucus. Together, and with the help of my colleagues from both sides of the aisle, we are working to combat the nationwide spike in fentanyl-related overdoses and drug poisonings as well as the recent rise in wildfires.
Next week, we are back in Washington and back at work For The People, continuing to put aside political games and take action on behalf of everyday hardworking families in Colorado and across the country.
