Dear Neighbor, As households throughout our communities kick off celebrations for the Class of 2025, I was honored to have the opportunity to address a group of graduates at Front Range Community College’s system-wide commencement ceremony last weekend. FRCC serves more than 27,000 students annually—many of whom were born and raised in the 2nd District—and helps foster upward mobility and ensure access to higher education for Coloradans of all backgrounds. While speaking with these students, I shared my belief that the people of our great state—resilient and strong—are ready to rise to the occasion, confront the challenges our nation faces, and unlock the unlimited potential of our future. If you or a loved one are celebrating a new chapter—whether it be moving from elementary school to high school or graduating college—please know we are all incredibly proud of the work you’ve already accomplished and excited to see the change you make for our state and our nation. And CONGRATULATIONS once again to all of Colorado’s graduates!

 Dear Neighbor,

As households throughout our communities kick off celebrations for the Class of 2025, I was honored to have the opportunity to address a group of graduates at Front Range Community College’s system-wide commencement ceremony last weekend. FRCC serves more than 27,000 students annually—many of whom were born and raised in the 2nd District—and helps foster upward mobility and ensure access to higher education for Coloradans of all backgrounds.

RENEWING OUR CALLS FOR A BAN ON CONGRESSIONAL STOCK TRADING

Last Wednesday night, I took to the House Floor—alongside a bipartisan coalition of my colleagues—to call on the Speaker of the House to bring forth legislation that would ban Members of Congress from holding or trading stocks. Watch my remarks HERE and below!

I’ve been proud to help lead this effort for over four years, and will keep beating the drum until House Leadership bans this practice and ensures lawmakers are serving their communities, their constituents, and their country—not their own stock portfolios.

EXPANDING FOREST AND LANDSCAPE RESTORATION

As Ranking Member of the House Subcommittee on Federal Lands, I was proud to join forces with my colleagues to introduce the bipartisan Collaborative Forest Landscape Restoration Program (CFLRP) Reauthorization Act. A bill to extend CFLRP for another 10 years, expanding the program’s ability to improve forest health, reduce wildfire risk, and support rural and mountain communities.

What is CFLRP? The Collaborative Forest Landscape Restoration Program (CFLRP) is a highly successful Forest Service program that strengthens community-based stewardship and promotes cooperative, science-based wildfire mitigation. Over the course of the last 15 years, the program has restored 5.7 million acres of forestland and helped improve 1,000 miles of trails and maintain 25,000 miles of roads (including in parts of Colorado’s Arapahoe and Roosevelt National Forests.)

In Colorado and across the Rocky Mountain West, we know that protecting our forests and lands benefits our communities and our livelihoods—and we’ll keep working to protect these shared spaces!

What else have we been working on?

  • During last week’s Rules Committee Hearing, I implored my colleagues to reject the Trump Administration’s reckless budget that slashes billions in funding for local law enforcement. Watch my remarks HERE.

  • I was proud to join my colleagues in introducing the Tribal Self-Determination and Co-Management in Forestry Act, a bill to recognize Tribal Nations—like Colorado’s Southern Ute and Ute Mountain Ute tribes—as equal partners in land stewardship and uplift their longstanding ecological knowledge.

  • Team Neguse attended one of the 2025 Upper Colorado State of the River meetings in Granby this week. These events give residents the opportunity to hear updates from state and local water managers on drought conditions and watershed health throughout the headwaters of the Colorado River. Note: Our state-of-the-art NOAA forecasters are predicting hotter- and drier-than-normal conditions through July, so it’s important that we all remain vigilant as we head into peak fire season. If you’re interested in learning more, the Colorado River District will be hosting additional meetings in Western Slope communities on May 22 and 29.

  • Team Neguse was honored to attend a Naturalization Ceremony at the Canyon Theatre in Boulder! They helped congratulate the 37 individuals from 21 different countries who officially became U.S. citizens this week.

Should you need any assistance from our office, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Stay safe, stay healthy, and stay hopeful!

Sincerely,

Joe Neguse Signature
