Dear Neighbor, I know the past few weeks have been filled with chaos and confusion for so many in our communities, and that the series of executive actions and directives coming out of the White House have sparked very real fears and anxieties among folks in the 2nd District—and certainly throughout our nation. Please know that my top priority is to protect Colorado and advocate tirelessly for the people of our great state. Using every legislative and oversight tool available, we will continue to defend Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, affordable health care and critical food assistance programs — and do everything we can to reverse the dismantling of federal agencies. With that in mind, last week I was grateful to have hundreds of constituents make their voices heard at two of our town-halls— in Nederland, and our Boulder telephone town-hall. As we navigate these challenging times together, your thoughtful questions, suggestions, and concerns are critical to how our office responds to the myriad of actions the Trump administration is taking. In the past two weeks alone, we’ve hosted six town-halls across cities in the District with thousands of attendees to ensure no voice is left unheard. We intend to be in every corner of our district and reach as many folks as we can from every zip code. More town-halls are on the way in the coming months, so please be on the lookout on social media and through our newsletter for upcoming events! Along with our town-halls, I believe working with our local leaders is crucial to addressing the needs of our communities. As you may know, the Trump Administration’s attempt to freeze federal funding would devastate our state, including our counties, cities, and towns. That’s why last Tuesday I joined Larimer County’s local leadership for a roundtable to discuss and strategize how we can respond at the local, state and federal levels. I also appreciated the opportunity to visit the Central City Fire Station and discuss its resource needs with the local Fire Chief.

I am deeply appreciative and grateful to the nearly 300 folks who have already taken the time to share their stories on the challenges they're facing due to the Trump Administration's actions. Reading your words has been truly heartbreaking, and I share every bit of your anxieties and fears. As I prepare to make my way back to Washington, D.C., your voices will be extremely valuable in guiding our work and pushing for solutions to these concerns. If you haven't had the chance yet, please don't hesitate to write in our Share Your Story form, a space for Colorado's 2nd District residents to share how the actions of this administration are affecting you.

In Boulder last week, I was excited to commemorate the completion of the Marshall Mesa Coal Fire Mitigation Project to finally extinguish the Coal Seam Fire. Truly grateful for everyone's tireless efforts on this project.

Recently, our office was proud to launch the Valentines for Veterans of Colorado's 2nd Congressional District, where we received nearly 1,000 cards from folks across the district. This past weekend, our office was proud to deliver these cards to our local veterans on behalf of our constituents, and I had the privilege of personally delivering many of them to our veterans alongside my family.

Last week, I was grateful to meet with hard-working Fire Chiefs from across Colorado, including many from Colorado's 2nd Congressional District, to discuss our joint efforts to ensure our state’s needs in combating wildland fires are met.
