Dear Neighbor, This week, as a member of the House Rules Committee, I participated in a 21-hour marathon hearing (that literally began at 1:00 am!) on House Republicans’ reckless budget reconciliation bill. Why? Because the hundreds of thousands of Coloradans that will lose access to affordable health care and food assistance—just in the 2nd Congressional District alone—deserve to have someone speak on their behalf. And the people of Colorado deserve to have full transparency as to the impacts of legislation that my colleagues pushed through in the dead of night.  With all of you at the forefront of my mind, I was proud to lead the debate and help push the consideration of this bill from the dead of night into the light of day. I’m also proud to report that we were able to find pockets of success, including building a bipartisan coalition and working with common-sense legislators to remove a provision from the bill that would have sold off treasured public lands in Nevada and Utah.  Unfortunately, the bill ultimately passed the House of Representatives on a party-line vote. But our work is just getting started, and I’ll keep showing up for the folks in our communities—day or night! Please know, my work to oppose this measure is far from over. Watch my remarks during night one of the Rules Committee hearing at 3:00AM HERE and below!

Dear Neighbor,

This week, as a member of the House Rules Committee, I participated in a 21-hour marathon hearing (that literally began at 1:00 am!) on House Republicans’ reckless budget reconciliation bill.

HONORING our nation's veterans

As we approach the Memorial Day holiday, I wanted to take pause to renew my commitment to those who have sacrificed so much to serve our country. That’s why I’m proud to announce our team has introduced two new bills: the Veterans Jobs Training Act and the Veteran Wildland Firefighter Employment Act of 2025. Both focus on ensuring our brave service-members have the essential tools for a successful reintegration into civilian life, including employment, housing, and a clear path forward. The bills I introduced are a step toward making sure our nation’s veterans aren’t left to navigate these challenges alone. Find more information on these bills click HERE.

Colorado is home to over 300,000 veterans, and as we pause to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice, we must also recommit ourselves to supporting all who have served our nation.

What else have we been working on?

  • Last week, pilots and air traffic controllers at Denver International Airport lost contact with one another, putting the safety of travelers at serious risk. To ensure this never happens again, I led my Colorado colleagues in a letter to the FAA demanding answers. Learn more about our effort HERE!

  • Congratulations to the individuals from across the 2nd District that were appointed to one of our prestigious Service Academies! We had eleven appointments, and to each one, thank you for shining a positive light on our district. I’m excited to see all that you will accomplish at our nation’s academies.

  • Team Neguse was honored to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Fall River Entrance Project in Rocky Mountain National Park! This national treasure nestled in our district is part of our way of life here in Colorado, and I am happy our team was there to support and celebrate.
