Dear Neighbor,  This week, as Congress reconvened, I headed back to Washington D.C. with a renewed focus on the issues that matter most to our community. Unfortunately, my Republican colleagues wasted yet another week of Floor time debating extraneous issues — from whole milk to “American boxing” — rather than the key challenges facing our community. Dear Neighbor,

This week, as Congress reconvened, I headed back to Washington D.C. with a renewed focus on the issues that matter most to our community. Unfortunately, my Republican colleagues wasted yet another week of Floor time debating extraneous issues — from whole milk to “American boxing” — rather than the key challenges facing our community. And if you don’t believe me . . . see for yourself HERE and below!

As the Trump administration’s economic policies and tariffs devastate small businesses across Northern and Western Colorado, House Republicans proposed their solution: a new government complaint “hotline” for hotlines, since apparently the dozen of hotlines that already exist were insufficient. Either click HERE or below to watch my statement on the need for serious solutions, not gimmicks.

On the good news front, however, Tuesday was a BIG DAY for Colorado’s public lands! FOUR of my bills advanced through the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources and are quickly gaining momentum across both sides of the aisle. Learn more about these proposals below:

  1. The CORE Act (a bill I’ve introduced 4 times!)  ➡️ would protect over 420,000 acres of public land in Colorado and boost our outdoor economy for generations to come.

  1. The Sarvis Creek Wilderness Completion Act  ➡️ would expand the Sarvis Creek Wilderness Area in the Routt National Forest by 6,817 acres, protecting sub-alpine wilderness habitats and wildlife while preserving access to outdoor recreation.

  1. The Cross-Boundary Wildfire Solutions Act  ➡️ would improve the effectiveness and efficiency of wildfire mitigation across land ownership boundaries.

  1. Western Wildfire Support Act  ➡️ would provide comprehensive resources to prevent wildfires, enhance firefighting efforts, and support communities impacted by year-round wildfire seasons.

There’s more work ahead, but together we'll keep climbing.

DOING WHAT I LOVE — MEETING WITH YOU!

I touched down back in Colorado Thursday night, and we hit the ground running Friday morning — including in Longmont, where we hosted our Mobile Office Hours! It’s always great to meet one-on-one with constituents and learn more about the challenges they may be facing and how we can assist. Please know, you can always reach out to our office for assistance with a federal agency — our casework team is at the ready to assist or answer any questions, anytime!

I also had the privilege on Friday afternoon of attending a moving tribute and memorial service at the Colorado State Capitol for my friend, State Senator Faith Winter. My wife, Andrea, and I, are devastated at her tragic passing, as are so many in our community, and are praying for her children and loved ones. Faith was a kind and devoted public servant, relentlessly focused on serving her community and state — she will be deeply missed.

SECURING INFRASTRUCTURE FUNDS FOR STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, FORT COLLINS & MORE!

I was excited to announce more than $8 million in Federal funds to modernize and advance Colorado’s sustainable transportation system. This funding will support critical infrastructure and the transition to low-emission vehicles across the district — from our rural mountain communities to our cities and suburbs.

Not only will this investment help improve public health and promote a cleaner commute, but it will bolster public transit operations, ensuring everyone has access to reliable transportation.

WHAT ELSE HAVE WE BEEN WORKING ON?

  • 🐏I’m thrilled to announce $20,000 for Colorado State University to participate in the federal government's nationwide Ideas and Innovation Challenge! With Fort Collins's push to electric buses and support of EV vehicles, this challenge to build America's transportation future will be a great fit for Colorado State.

  • 💰House Republicans held a hearing earlier this week on balancing the federal budget. Of course, even their own witness conceded that President Trump’s reckless tax bill will increase the deficit by trillions of dollars. Check out my response HERE and below.
