Dear Neighbor, As you may know, the Trump administration has proposed outrageous cuts to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in Boulder, including the potential closure of two critical Cooperative Institutes in Colorado— at the University of Colorado-Boulder (CIRES) and at Colorado State University in Fort Collins (CIRA). The proposed closures and cuts would have truly devastating impacts to Colorado and our country, and jeopardize the future of crucial science and research regarding our oceans, atmosphere and weather events, environmental and disaster preparedness, conservation efforts, and so much more.   Every American should oppose this reckless proposal — and I’ve been building a coalition of lawmakers in Congress to do everything I can to defeat it. We must invest in our scientists, laboratories, and innovation through agencies like NOAA and programs like the Cooperative Institutes, and reject the dangerous approach proposed by the Trump administration. Over the last several days, I’ve led multiple efforts imploring both the Department of Commerce and my colleagues on the House Appropriations Committee to reject these draconian cuts, including an effort I organized with 23 lawmakers who represent other NOAA affiliated institutes across the country. You can read more about our efforts HERE!

Dear Neighbor,

As you may know, the Trump administration has proposed outrageous cuts to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in Boulder, including the potential closure of two critical Cooperative Institutes in Colorado— at the University of Colorado-Boulder (CIRES) and at Colorado State University in Fort Collins (CIRA).

And this weekend, I was grateful to keep the conversation going in our district by joining former NOAA leaders, local leaders, and former Congressman David Skaggs to speak out against the recent proposed cuts — we will continue our efforts!

TOWN HALLS, FORUMS & MORE ACROSS 4 COUNTIES!

One of the most important parts of my job is meeting with and listening to the constituents I’m so privileged to serve — YOU! And over the course of the past few days, that’s exactly what we’ve been doing, traveling across 7 cities and 4 counties for town halls, community forums, festivals, and so much more.

I had a wonderful time chatting with folks at the Boulder Farmers Market at our constituent services booth — in case you missed it, watch our video with the Executive Director of the Boulder Farmers Market, Mackenzie Sehlk, HERE, where we discuss the importance of defending the critical SNAP program for our community in Colorado. I also was honored to join the Louisville community at the Enclave Community Park Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. Years after the fire, our communities are still rebuilding, and it is reconstructions like these— not just structures, but community areas— that keep us hopeful about the future.

Over the weekend, we traversed hundreds of miles across the district, including joining hundreds of folks in Boulder (along with my daughter Natalie!) for Tube to Work Day, hosting a Summit County town hall in Frisco with Senator Michael Bennet, and joining the Roots and Rhythm Music Festival in Longmont to speak about the importance of the work being done to provide critical access to food assistance in our communities.

Check out our video recapping the district work period below!

WHAT ELSE HAVE WE BEEN WORKING ON?

  • Last week, I was grateful to join the Loveland community for a FY 2023 Community Project Funding Selection ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Health and Wellness Center for the Loveland Fire Rescue that will service firefighters for preventative care. Our office was proud to secure critical funding for our local firefighters, and you can read more about our efforts HERE.

  • Folks in Weld & Boulder Counties — come visit with our team for any assistance navigating a federal agency! Team Neguse is hosting Mobile Office Hours in Erie on Friday, July 18th. Please follow the link
HERE to RSVP for a time slot.

Should you need any assistance from our office, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Please stay safe, stay healthy, and stay hopeful!

Sincerely,
