Dear Neighbor, Like so many of you, I’m utterly heartbroken by the terrible mass shooting at a Minneapolis school earlier this week. Words cannot capture the horror these families endured, and as a father of young children, my heart goes out to them and the entire Minneapolis community. We simply cannot allow ourselves to become numb to the senseless gun violence tearing through our communities.  As the Vice-Chair of the House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, I continue to implore my colleagues to join us in enacting common-sense reforms that we know will save lives. If you’re interested in learning more, you can listen to a conversation I had this week with Erika Mahoney, host of the Senseless podcast. Erika’s father, Kevin, was a treasured member of our community, and tragically, one of the victims of the mass shooting at the Boulder King Soopers in 2021. Both Erika and her incredible mother, Ellen, have bravely converted their anguish into action, inspiring countless folks across our entire community, state and country —  you can listen here.  We must never back down in our pursuit of a country where children are safe to go to school, families to the grocery store, and friends to the movies, all free from the fear of gun violence.

Dear Neighbor,

Like so many of you, I’m utterly heartbroken by the terrible mass shooting at a Minneapolis school earlier this week. Words cannot capture the horror these families endured, and as a father of young children, my heart goes out to them and the entire Minneapolis community. We simply cannot allow ourselves to become numb to the senseless gun violence tearing through our communities.

COMMUNITY EVENTS — TWENTY CITIES AND COUNTING!

I’m deeply grateful to have spent the August District Work Period doing what I truly enjoy the most — meeting and listening to YOU! Over the past few weeks, we’ve travelled thousands of miles across Northwest Colorado — visiting 20 cities, large and small. Our district truly is breathtakingly beautiful — and large!

Everywhere in our district, from our mountain communities to the Front Range, community leaders and citizens are working together to make progress tackling the challenges facing our state. In Hayden, I visited with the folks developing geothermal innovations that will play a critical role in our work to advance clean energy and fight climate change. In Yampa, I saw first-hand the brave efforts of our firefighters and emergency personnel as they battle multiple wildfires and protect our neighbors on the Western Slope. And in Edwards, I spent time with ranchers, conservationists and community leaders at the Eagle Valley Land Trust Conservation Center, where they’re working to protect our treasured public lands.

I’m grateful to so many in our district for giving me the opportunity to participate in a wide array of community events — suffice to say, it has been a very busy few weeks. From attending Niwot’s Rock & Rails (my daughter had a terrific time and got an awesome unicorn facepaint!), hosting a constituent services booth at the Mapleton’s Rummage Sale in Boulder to speak with constituents about the ways our office can assist with navigating federal agencies, and kicking-off the Tour De Fat bicycle event in Fort Collins — suffice to say it has been a very busy few weeks!

SOCIAL SECURITY CHAOS

The Trump Administration has claimed that Social Security customer service wait times are down 73% — which is FALSE. And you don’t have to take my word for it, because I gave them a call myself last week to see just how long the wait times still are and spent 1 hour and 34 minutes on hold. Our government needs to get back to working for the people.

Please know that I am committed to fighting back against President Trump’s attempts to slow services down for Coloradans — because you deserve help in a timely manner. That said, if you do need help with a federal agency — including the Social Security Administration, Veteran Administration, Internal Revenue Service, Immigration, and more — please feel free to reach out to our office. Our constituent services team is ready to assist you.

TAKING ON CORRUPTION

In the video above: Congressman Neguse speaks on Fox 31 Colorado POV.

As many of you know, I've intorduced a legislative effort in Washington D.C. with a group of next-generation reformers in the House of Representatives called End Corruption Now. The goal is simple — to confront political corruption, clean up government, and put power back in the hands of the American people, by preventing the President, Executive Branch officials, and members of Congress from personally benefiting from their offices. Put simply, the time for corruption to end is now, and we must clean up government for future generations and ensure our government is serving the American people, not special interests.

I recently, joined Fox 31's Colorado Point of View to dicuss my legislative effort, as well as recent wildfires and more. Watch my full interview above!

Should you need any assistance from our office, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Please stay safe, stay healthy, and stay hopeful!

Sincerely,

Joe Neguse Signature
